Amritsar - Tarn Taran road to be four laned soon : Inderbir Singh Bolaria
The state government plans to four-lane the Amritsar-Tarn Taran road, including construction of an overbridge, to deal with increasing traffic and resultant jams on the route.
Chief parliamentary secretary Inderbir Singh Bolaria attributed the traffic jams on the route to a closed railway crossing.
The railway overbridge would be one km long and would cost around Rs 85 lakh. Stating that the chief minister had granted approval to the project, Bolaria said that the work on the project would start soon. "The canal bridge that falls along the way too would be widened so as to ensure free flow of traffic," he said.
The road would be four-laned till Guruwali and a 5.5-meter wide service lane would be constructed on both sides of the route. "A 1.5-metre wide median would also be erected in the middle, which would be used as green belt and installing streetlights," he said. The SAD leader maintained that the length of the project was 16.20 km and an estimated Rs 96.32 crore would be spent. Read Full News
